The trip combined two exciting opportunities. First, it was a chance to experience one of Canada’s newest professional sports leagues. Second, it provided a real-world test of how practical electric vehicle ownership can be for drivers throughout British Columbia.

The Toyota bZ Woodland departed Penticton with a full battery and an estimated range of 465 kilometres.
The timing of the trip also provided a realistic test for electric vehicle ownership in British Columbia. Temperatures throughout the day exceeded 30 degrees Celsius, meaning the air conditioning was running continuously to keep occupants comfortable.
Rather than attempting to maximize range, the goal was to experience the vehicle the same way most owners would use it during a summer road trip.

The route travelled through some of British Columbia’s most beautiful scenery, including communities throughout the Okanagan Similkameen region that Penticton Toyota proudly serves.
Stops along the way included Keremeos and Princeton, providing an opportunity to enjoy the landscape while monitoring the vehicle’s performance and battery usage.
Upon arriving in Princeton, the Toyota bZ Woodland still displayed 75 percent battery remaining and an estimated 344 kilometres of range.
For many drivers new to electric vehicles, seeing that amount of range remaining after travelling through mountain highways helps demonstrate just how capable modern EVs have become.
A Quick and Affordable Charging Stop
A brief charging stop in Princeton was all that was needed before continuing west toward Burnaby.
The battery was charged from 75 percent to 95 percent, increasing available range to approximately 420 kilometres. Perhaps the most surprising part of the stop was the cost. The charging session totaled just $6.40.
Even more impressive, the vehicle finished charging before the snack and restroom break was complete. By the time it was time to get back on the road, the Toyota bZ Woodland was ready to continue the journey.
Experiences like this continue to challenge many of the common misconceptions surrounding electric vehicle ownership.
Arriving at Swangard Stadium
The Toyota bZ Woodland arrived at Swangard Stadium with approximately 35 percent battery remaining and an estimated 135 kilometres of range still available.
The trip demonstrated that longer drives across British Columbia can be completed comfortably without complicated planning or frequent charging stops.
For many drivers considering their first electric vehicle, this type of real-world experience provides reassurance that EV ownership is practical for both daily commuting and weekend adventures.
