About Us

2023 Rav4 Overview

The Toyota RAV4 has long been a popular choice for those seeking a practical and efficient SUV, and the 2023 model continues to deliver in those areas. It features a cargo-friendly interior, attractive pricing, and sensible road manners. The vehicle is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which can be paired with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains are available.

One of the RAV4's key strengths is its rugged exterior, which allows it to blend in well with other Toyota SUVs like the 4Runner and Tacoma. However, the vehicle is most at home when it's being used for suburban tasks like daily commuting and trips to the home improvement store.

What’s new in 2023

For 2023, Toyota has updated the RAV4's infotainment system to a more modern one with larger display screens. LE, XLE, XLE Premium, and Adventure trims all get an 8.0-inch display as standard, while Limited and TRD Off-Road models get a larger 10.5-inch display. The new interface is both prettier and more intuitive than the outgoing system and is capable of over-the-air updates. It also provides wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 7.0-inch display in the gauge cluster is now standard, while a 12.3-inch display is optional on XLE Premium and TRD Off-Road models and standard on the Limited.

Engine & Performance

The 2023 RAV4 is powered by a 203-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. While front-wheel drive is standard, Toyota now offers a choice of all-wheel-drive systems depending on the trim level. The Adventure model we tested featured an all-wheel-drive system that can disconnect the rear axle when necessary to improve fuel economy.

Interior

Inside, the RAV4 prioritizes ergonomics and cubby storage, with a useful shelf spanning the dash and complementing the large center console. The version we tested featured a mix of soft-touch surfaces and nice plastics. While the base trim, known as LE, is quite basic and features cloth seats, and single-zone manual climate control, the vehicle's rear seats are easy to stow and can fold down almost flat, providing ample space for cargo. We were able to fit 10 carry-on suitcases behind the rear seat and 22 with it folded.
